Paper mâché skull

I started paper to mâché my skull after I got the basic parts of it formed with newsprint and masking tape. I will add another layer and then start forming the eye sockets and the rest of the jaw. (also hopefully the teeth and stuff too)

I know it doesn't look like a skull at all right now, but it will be eventually.

Sculpture sketches

When I first started this sculpture, I drew/ wrote out everything I wanted to do to it.  It took me forever to get a good idea, and that would actually mean something to me, but I did eventually get it. It is California themed because I was born there.

The process: I started out with a gold, sequined heel. Then I gessoed it a couple of times. After that, I cut the holes in it and began painting. After I finished painting, I covered it with acrylic gloss medium. I also started making the palm trees, but I didn’t finish.

Paper Mâché skeleton sketch

I did two different sketches for my paper mâché skeleton. They're both pretty much the same. I am hopefully going to do a Day of the Dead theme.  I would like to have a lace veil with a flower headband and a pretty bouquet to match the headband. I would like to add more stuff onto it, but I'm not sure what yet.

More work on palm trees..

I added another layer of paper mâché onto my palm trees. Hopefully I can get them painted and detailed, then glued onto my sculpture to finally be done with this project!

Making the palm trees..

I am making the palm trees for my shoe to place in the heel of my shoe. I made them out of paper and am in the process of covering them with paper mâché and making the leaves. Once that is done, I will add detail to the leaves and the trunk. Hopefully I can do everything tomorrow to finish it up.

So I guess this is my final piece. Painted on the side that was bare, and I decided I shouldn't add the shark on there.. but yeah, so here you go guys.

Shoe Project....

I painted the rest of the base like a beach just because that was the easiest thing to do. I know I'm not going to be able to finish, but I guess I should have planned it out better and actually picked something I knew I could  do.

Shoe...

I had to add a bigger base to it, I think its too big, but I'm stuck with it now. Not sure what to paint on it... Then where that shiny, foil looking paper is, I decided to that instead of trying to incorporate the HollyWood sign there because some parts of California are very weird, like on my shoe, but other parets are very delicate and beautiful.

Glued my shoe on my stand. Made sure you could still see all the important stuff. It's not done, but I'm not sure if Mrs Wheeler is going to let us finish them. If so, then I'll definitely finish and post more pictures, but if not, then this is it.

Painting

Painted the Knott's berry farm sign on the tip of my shoe. Also did the San Diego Chargers on the heel. Looks pretty good to me. What do you guys think?

Day of the Dead practice makeup

Practicing this makeup on my sister to perfect it for Halloween. So excited. Turned out pretty good I think.

More progress on shoe.

Tried to finish up redwoods. Don't look so good, but I don't know what else to do. Painted the heel a royal blue/purple color for San Diego Chargers logo background. And painted the rest of the outside white for my Knottsbury Farms sign on the front and then skateboards and stuff on the side.
